How to find a song when you don’t know the name

The best search method depends on the clue you have. Start with the strongest signal, then add context if the first attempt misses.

If you have the actual audio

Use a clean 10–15 second section where the music is loud and speech is minimal. A chorus or instrumental hook usually works better than a quiet intro. Upload MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, or WebM audio to the audio finder.

If you only remember the melody

Record yourself humming at a steady speed. Stay close to your microphone, avoid lyrics, and repeat the most recognizable part once. A 10-second melody is often more useful than a long, uncertain recording.

If you remember some lyrics

Enter the most distinctive phrase you remember. Spelling does not need to be perfect. Include nearby words, the singer’s voice, or an approximate decade if the phrase is common.

If the song was in a video or place

Describe the scene, platform, genre, singer, language, and when you heard it. Details such as “closing credits,” “female vocal,” or “early-2010s indie” help narrow the possibilities.
