An AI song finder built for incomplete memories

What the product does

The service combines audio recognition and AI-assisted search so you can identify music from a short audio or video clip, a hummed melody, remembered lyrics, or a description. Separate browser tools can estimate BPM and key, inspect music characteristics, check a mix, and suggest related songs.

How we approach results

Music identification is probabilistic. We show likely matches and useful context rather than claiming certainty when a clue is weak. Clear recordings and specific descriptions usually produce better candidates.

How each kind of search works

Audio and video. The file is checked in your browser for length and signal level, uploaded to private storage, converted to mono and loudness-normalised on the server, and matched against a commercial music-recognition catalog. Up to five candidates are returned.

Humming. A recording of up to 20 seconds is made in your browser and goes through the same recognition path as audio, which matches melody rather than words.

Lyrics and descriptions. Your text is interpreted by an AI model (Google Gemini) that can consult web search and music catalogs. Because this is generative, every candidate is a lead to verify by listening.

Similar songs. The seed track is resolved through public catalogs such as MusicBrainz, Spotify, YouTube and Apple, and related tracks are suggested from artist and genre data.

BPM, key, analysis, and mix checking. These run entirely in your browser on the file you select. The audio is not uploaded. Values are estimates computed from the first three minutes of the file.

What we do not claim

We do not publish an overall accuracy rate, because it depends on the recording, the catalog and the clue. We do not guarantee that a candidate is correct, and we do not claim that results are endorsed by any artist, label or streaming service. Examples on this site are labelled when they illustrate a workflow rather than show a recorded result.

Credits and fairness

Signing in with Google is required to run a search, which lets us limit automated abuse of the recognition services we pay for. Your first successful identification is free. A search that returns nothing is not charged. Full rules are on the pricing page and in the Terms of Use.

Privacy and support

Uploads are encrypted in transit and recognition files are scheduled for deletion within 24 hours. For product, privacy, billing, or account questions, contact the Find Music By Sound team.
